From short to short you’ll get to Rome

PS. Gracias especiales al Osito Agente Espacial.

SUENA A RETO!

Definitivamente, suena a reto!

Rachel Errington with dancer Bafana Matea shooting one of the cherries on top of the movie.

One of the biggest pleasures of making this movie was be able to work with people from all around the world. Learn to communicate in all the languages and in all the ways of people mind and culture.

I took this photo at Scopello Restaurant in Brooklyn (one of the main locations). In the photo (from right to left): Joseph Guice (USA), Cesar Bracamonte (Ecuador), Rachel Errington (USA), Sayamol Klunmalee (Thailand), Paola Mathe (Haiti), Zeem (Colombia) and  Stavros Vaileaidis (Greece). Back on the corner, Scopello’s Owner Fabrizio (Italia) and Mei – Ling Chen (Taiwan).

GAMBLIN’ MAN

Create your own rules

Follow your own vision

Enjoy the game

That seems to be the philosophy of Michael Puro, the protagonist of my semester film GAMBLIN’ MAN.  Michael enjoys playing any kind of games with numbers. He plays for the pleasure of playing. The result is the less important. Surviving the game is what matters.

I wrote, directed and edited this short film as part of my semester film. I was lucky to find an amazing crew; great actors; and real locations. The lottery store is in Chinatown ( which makes me feel in Bogotá; for those who know: Chinatown can be very similar to San Andresito but in mandarin). Also, Jimmy ( Michael’s antagonist) is the real owner of the lottery shop. I trained with him per two weeks in cantonese ( his english is more limited than mine jeje) and he tried to learnt all the script that I gave him : )  So, we pretty much, communicate with mimic and with the help of my producer, who was taiwanese. As a director, this was my biggest accomplishment.

Everybody was very involved in this project. Thanks again to all of them.

We shoot for 5 days in winter like good soldiers, like good players.

We still have a lot, lot of games to play.

GAME ON

TO BE CONTINUED…

And here are the photos that I took to do the credits of my semester film. This one is a story about a man who is obsessed with buying the Lottery and needs to find the right combination. We still working in the sound design but as it turned out to be a good one, we are going to a couple of local festivals before I upload it. So, stay tuned !

Some of the people that already seen the short film asked if I used the lomography camera to take these pics. But, the truth is…nope : P

Just a little PS magic!

The Stupid Fool’s Poster

This poster was designed by Diego Peñuela for my first fiction-short I directed and wrote. It is call: El necio (The stupid fool) and it is quite of an odd for many stupid fools I had met in my life. But, not to take seriously, just a bit of black humor.
